Matt and I are packing up the women and heading off to New York for the 2006 New York City Comic-Con!
We’re not renting table space at this show, but we should be easy to spot with our camera equipment, as we’ll be wandering the show floor shmoozing with celebrities and reviewing all manner of junk for the HorCast. And I’ll be at the DC booth pretty regularly, so drop by and find me.
I’m just excited to be getting out my apartment, frankly - I think the air in here has gone bad.

Jesus Christ! In my rush to meet my impending deadline, my mad, fevered brain has stumbled upon an awful, incredible truth!
Jonathan Bauer (of Who’s the Boss?) and Jack Bauer (of 24) are ONE AND THE SAME!

FACT! Is not ‘Jack’ often used as a nickname for ‘John’ or ‘Johnathan’ ?!?
FACT! Is not ‘Jonathan’s’ history between ‘Who’s the Boss?’ and adulthood a COMPLETE FUCKING MYSTERY??!!
FACT! Do they not have a similar devilish gleam in their eyes and share a STRIKINGLY SIMILAR POSE ???!!???
I have FURTHER PROOF!!!!!!!!
What does this mean?? I have not left my drawing table or my apartment for three days and I will not until I make some sense of all this!! Why is there no air in here??!!!!!??

I think I’ve started a tradition.
Last year I did a CSI: Miami valentine for my girlfriend (she loves the Caruso). This year it’s Jack Bauer - not because she particularly cares for Jack, but because I’ve inundated myself with marathon viewings of 24 while I’ve been working on Robin, and laughing at the ludicrous situations has become a treasured pastime for us.
How do I follow this up next year? Suggestions are welcome, but I think I’m just going to have to wait and see what kind of junk the networks throw at me next season. Right now, all signs point to Dog the Bounty Hunter.

A commission I did. The illustration is inspired by the phrase, “icky glubs, yes?” and the album, Belladonna, by Daniel Lanois.

So it’s not a drawing, exactly, and Gilmore Girls technically airs on Tuesdays, but I thought under the circumstances (being that I watched it on Friday) this was an appropriate Girl Fridays entry.
Just when I thought the show was in a slump, Amy Sherman Palladino pulls out this episode, entitled ‘Friday Night’s Alright For Fighting’, which kicked so much ass that it may just have been the best episode, minute for minute, of the series to date.
And I strongly discourage anyone from obtaining this show by any means which might be considered illegal.
