Horhaus Halloween
For posterity. Kalman and me at Andy B’s halloween bash.
In case you’re not up on your Joes, Kalman is Outback and I’m Charlie ‘Spirit’ Iron-Knife.
…and my eagle, Freedom, of course.

I spent a few hours yesterday doing a complete erase and install of my trusty G4 PowerBook and setting up Apple’s new operating system, OS X 10.5, code-named Leopard.
So far, it’s very cool, especially the Quick Look feature which lets you preview your files right from the Finder without having to open the application associated with it. But I wanted to post a link to this review by John Siracusa, who has extensively reviewed Apple’s previous releases and generally has, in my opinion, refreshingly objective (and obsessive) thoughts on user-friendliness and interface standards and his comments dig much deeper into the nuts and bolts of the update than the usual glossing over of the shiniest new features.
So if you’re thinking about upgrading, or even if you already have, give it a read.
As promised, here are the first three pages of Teen Titans: Year One, issue 1. They were published in the Previews catalogue, which came out today, but in case you haven’t seen it I’m posting them here!

I’ve been a terrible, terrible blogger. It’s been far too long since my last post, but I promise it’s because I’ve been working on stuff, and I also didn’t want to turn this site into one giant advertisement for The Abominable Charles Christopher (updated every Wednesday at www.transmission-x.com!).
So for all of you folks who actually care about the comics I’m working on, I’ve got a treat for you! Or rather, I’ll have a treat for you very soon, because DC is running the first three pages of Teen Titans Year One in the next Previews catalogue, and as soon as that happens I’ll run them here as well (and maybe some extra stuff too). I can’t wait for this thing to come out so it’ll finally feel real. Right now it just feels like a child I’ve been home-schooling and smothering with the attention of an overzealous parent…
Anyway, it comes out in January. And I realize that Kid Flash’s costume is still wrong in the solicitation image, but it’s in the process of being fixed. I swear.
I’ve also been doing a month’s worth of covers (that’s 4 of ‘em) for DC’s Countdown series, which is what you see above. It’s issues 21-18, I think (see, they count down. get it?), and those come out in December or January. I forget which.
So there you have it! Busy! Proof that I haven’t just been playing Metroid.
Man, between staring at pages of Teen Titans and playing Metroid: Prime when I get home at night, I have some terrible eyestrain. Burning eyes and a subtle, nagging headache in my forehead. I’m sure that’s not good.
And since I can’t stop looking at my work, I’ve had to give up on Metroid for a few days, which is a shame because it’s awesome. I decided to pick up the original GameCube titles to catch myself up on the story before jumping into the new one for the Wii, and it’s everything the reviews claimed it to be: atmospheric, challenging, immersive and fun. I love that despite the first-person perspective it’s more of an adventure/exploration game than a mindless shooter. I can’t wait to play the second one.
Maybe I should just start a new blog about playing three-year-old video games, since I seem to have nothing to say about comics or illustration.
Speaking of which, a new Abominable Charles Christopher went up on Wednesday…
