Chicken in the car

That's the way you spell Chicago

- Old Trini Saying

Join Team Horhaus in the Windy City from August 5-7! We'll be set up in Artist's Alley peddling our wares and doing sketches! And you never know, if you wander by at the right time, you're likely to make it into an upcoming HorCast! Brenden has every intention of filling up his minidisks, so we'll have loads of material for the coming weeks. Kalman and I will be doing commissions (I've already had requests to be put on the commission list, so if you're dying for a piece of original art, and get your name in there) and I'll also be putting in some time at the DC Booth for signings with Greg Rucka and the rest of the Superman team.
And Matt? Well, we're still trying to convince him to come with us. You can into submission, but for the best results, offer him a half hour of tennis.

See you there!

Skate Me So Insane

hand_plant.jpg

Karl's brother returned from India last week and promptly issued the call of the skate. Karl, Kurt and Matt donned their old gear last night and took to the Home Depot parking garage for a taste of the old ultra-skatey. Hand planting and ollies were enjoyed by all.

SOTD Righteous

Above is a piece of apocrypha from my days of doing character designs for the ill-fated post-apocalyptic mmorpg Charr the grimm Fate. Despite being one of my last, and also one of my favorite designs, this piece somehow never made it into the Traditional Media section of my gallery where all the other pieces of Charr art that I don't hate reside.

Today I am correcting this oversight for my second ever Sketch of the Day post!

Kalman Andrasofszky Action Figure

I can't afford to attend San Diego this year, but if anyone else goes, could they please pick me up an exclusive Kalman Andrasofszky action figure?

Dave...

AOS642 Cover Inked.jpg

This is the line drawing I did for the cover to Adventures of Superman #642, my third issue on the title. Click on it.
You may have noticed that it looks significantly different from the solicitation image published in Previews. That's because this is the final image, coloured by Dave McCaig.
I scrutinized it in an attempt to figure out how my linework ended up looking so rich and sculpted, and realized that it's just because Dave is a god-damned genius.
I am humbled and beyond lucky to have him colouring my stuff. He's on board for the long haul, so expect one of these every month!

And here's the next one, for issue 643. Click on the line art for more glorious colour.

Gallery Update

Hey everybody, remember me?
I'm the dodgy one who used to blog once upon a time, but now only posts to pimp his artwork and projects.

Seriously, I've been-nose-to-the-grindstone-ing since November, but that's hardly new. What is new is that some of that elbow grease went towards finding me a new studio, which I'll be moving into over the next few weeks. This operation will be culminating in a big inauguration at the Victory Cafe -- watch this space for more!

But you surely are far more interested in the new art, so here goes... First and foremost I've fattened up the Star Wars section with new art from the Ultimate Missions Episode III book, as well as illos from the previous Clonestrike book. I've added 2 pieces from D20 Apocalypse to the D20 section, into which I've also folded all of the D20 Past material. Last, I've scattered a few new morsels around: a new logo, a superhero sketch (yes, you read right), some new sequential pages, and the cover art from a military manual on the "Future of Land-Based Warfare" (that's the Canadian military, just so we're clear)

In other pimping news, the new Previews mag, which came out yesterday, contained the solicitation for Vengeance of the Mummy #1 for everyone who keeps asking me when. It's published by Moonstone Books and it's in the Comics section.
