Mini-Miki

I'm so ashamed.
Lyon, our good friend and certainly most faithful of HorCast listeners, is a longtime painter and customizer of miniatures and, in recent years, has been sculpting his own models! A few months back, he hounded me for Miki reference, which I was unable to access easily (it's all on old Zip disks) and then sent me these pics of the first and only Miki miniature!
Lost in a sea of ink and deadlines, I let them lay woefully dormant and unappreciated... until now!
Above, you can see the unpainted and finished sculpt, in a meticulous Lyon turn-around, but it doesn't end there...
Feast (pun intended) your eyes on this!

Silver Bullet Comics Hosts the HorCast
The fine folks over at SILVER BULLET COMICS have pinned on a red cape, swooped down from the clouds and saved our butts from the evil of maxed out bandwidth by hosting the HorCast on their site! Now, don't get your panties in a knot. You'll still be able to find your favorite half hour of geeked out nonsense here, at the 'haus, every Monday. SILVER BULLET COMICS will be the shows second home - its apartment in the city, where, at times it might throw parties or have some fun with its mistress.
Ahem...
They'll be mirroring the audio and video files to alleviate some of the strain the show has been putting on our web-host. As an added bonus, we're going to make an effort in the future to coordinate a portion of the shows with articles and interviews that Jonathon and his crack team of journalistic commandos are tirelessly hunting down and assembling for SILVER BULLET. This may put a cramp in our last-minute-recording style of podcasting. It might even mean that we have to start taking the show seriously.

SOTD Muad'dib 5 years on
I first stumbled across Steven Gettis' Artistic Interpretations of Literary Figures site around mid-2000. I was trapped in a poisonous business partnership and was swimming in frustration caused by a not-zippy-enough career in comics illustration.
I was tickled by Steven's idea though, which is in a nutshell, a website where comic artists contribute portraits of either: a) their favorite author or b) their favorite hero of fiction. So I contacted Steven and proceeded to make this.
When Steven turned up out of the blue recently asking if I'd like to do another, I briefly considered contributing my favorite author Jorge Luis Borges, but ultimately couldn't resist doing a reinterpretation of Paul Muad'dib, lovingly crafted with 5 additional years experience and (one hopes) skill.
Same time in 2010 Steve...?
NOTE: This is a digital snap of the drawing -- all I was able to get since I finished it at a con. Hi-res scan to follow soon.

New Project Announcement

Yep, you read right. I've signed on to pencil the all-new, all-different Warlands for the fine folks at the all-new, all-different Dreamwave (or as we like to call them around here, Nouveau Dreamwave)
This is a whole new deal, people: a whole new company, a whole new roster from top to bottom, a whole new vision. Hell, even a whole new province.
I'll leave it to their hype machine to pump the stuff they have in the pipe, but you really won't believe some of the talent they've scared up.
***UPDATE: Press already!!***
Apparently the ever vigilant cats at Newsarama have caught on to this, and have posted a little blurb about the whole deal here. Checkidout.

Comic Books For Disaster Relief
Today has been declared 'Blogging for Disaster Relief Day'. It might sound foolish but i feel like we have to chime in somehow. Horhaus is a part of the 'BLOGOSPHERE' whether we like it or not. I refuse to allow laziness or apathy to creep over our sacred little piece of cyber-space. I felt we had to contribute. So this is it. It's not much but it will have to do.
Kody Chamberlain, artist of IDW's '30 days of night: Bloodsucker Tales' has created a print to benefit the Red Cross Hurricane Katarina relief fund. He's from South Louisiana and has friends and family that used to live in New Orleans. Most of them have lost their homes and are in shelters, living with him, or other relatives. He's got 200 of these beautiful pieces selling for a very reasonable $50US each.
Rob Liefeld has announced that he has donated all of his original art from Teen Titans #27 to be auctioned on eBay (by The Cargo Hold), with 100% of the proceeds being donated to the Red Cross for Hurricane Katrina relief.
Click the above link for The Cargo Hold's main eBay auction page, and then click on the "Hurricane Katrina Relief" on the left-hand list of store categories.
The Bendis Board has set up an auction of comics, art, and related items to benefit the agencies helping those affected by Hurricane Katrina. Additionally, Brian Bendis said that he will give signed scripts of any issue of his work (donator's choice) in return for a $100 donation to the Red Cross.
Blank Label Comics is hosting a webcomic telethon to aid victims of Hurricane Katrina. It will be held the week of Sept. 12.
All of the revenue generated from site advertising, donations, and proceeds from merchandise bought through the site will be donated to the Red Cross to help in disaster relief.
If you'd like to participate, please contact Brad Guigar and tell him you will be participating. Then create a comic. Now. It doesn't have to be about hurricanes or disasters or the importance of charity... but those themes are appreciated.
Apple is now accepting donations on behalf of the Red Cross for victims of Hurricane Katrina through its iTunes Music Store. Donation amounts of $5 to $200 are available on the site hosted free of charge by Apple. You will receive an iTunes Music Store receipt for your donation, all of which will go to the Red Cross. Apple also notes that your personal information is not shared with Red Cross, so they will not be able to acknowledge your donation.
