THIS JUNE…HORCAST RETURNS!

horcast-season-2-ad.jpg

After several years in outer space exploring its Kryptonian origins, the HorCast returns home to find Lyon has forsaken it for another podcast, has had a child with said ‘cast and has given up drinking orange juice of the freshly-squeezed variety. The love-loss must have something to do with that magic HorCast memory-wipe kiss. No excuse for avoiding the juice. Oranges are better than cigarettes…

Tune in this Tuesday, June 13th for the first episode of the second season of the HORCAST!

HorCast Video - Kyle Baker

Matt and Karl spent this past weekend in the Big Apple schmoozing with the stars of several television police spectaculars, availing themselves of the delights of the SOHO Apple mercantile and greasing their bellies with triangular, foldable slices of Italian-American pie-love. How Matt found time to videotape Kyle Baker, we may never know…

C’mon back for HorCast #32 next week-ish, but make sure you’ve done your homework! HorCast #30 - Frank Quitely Part 1

I spent an afternoon this past week with Frank Quitely. I peeked behind the curtain. I saw Superman and X-Men and American Virgin. I was told the secrets of Photoshop and colouring and inking. It all seemed so obviously beautiful. A child could do it. A CHILD COULD DO IT!

-bzzzt!-

…and then I re-entered the real world. And Spock had to talk me through the procedure. And my life will never be the same.

-bzzzt!-

What’s that you say? You’ve listened to the show and there’s STILL not enough Quitely to fill your brain? Come back next week to hear Frank chat about Flex Mentallo, 20/20 Visions, JLA Earth 2 and the magic of visual storytelling! Ha-cha-cha-cha…

Listen to the HorCast to hear him engage in an in-depth discussion about his influences and his work process, breaking down this cover for ‘Action Comics’ #835 from thumbnails to finished colours.

HorCast #28 - Takeshi Miyazawa

I called up Takeshi Miyazawa last week and had a chat about his career in comics. He’s currently working for Marvel Comics drawing the title, ‘Spider-Man loves Mary Jane’ but his true passion lies in his web-comic, ‘BFX’. He and Arthur Dela Cruz are well into the second arc of the series, introducing new characters and a new story format. Here’s what it’s about (in a blurb pilfered from Tak’s site):

Living and working in the dirty underbelly of the mega city Metropia, Beth and her party of urban couriers live out their days under the thumb of their clients. Their routine lives take a turn for the worst after a life-altering incident involving local metaphine traffickers, guns and killing, occurs.

Events continue to spiral out of control as Beth and her party desperately fight back to stay alive while, at the same time, finding themselves sinking deeper and deeper into the murky depths or metropia’s shadows.

Will they ever see light again?

Here, Horcast! Here, boy! There’s a good boy…

Believe it or not, the HorCast returns this week. I had a chat with Takeshi Miyazawa last week that I’ll endeavour to edit and post as soon as possible. Sorry for the delay in getting a new show up but my music career has suddenly decided to gain some long-awaited forward momentum. New recordings and videos to follow soon.
